About

Brian Goggin, Cognitive Hypnotherapist

Hello there and welcome to my website. My name is Brian, and I’m an experienced Cognitive Hypnotherapist.

I work with clients to overcome a range of issues from anxiety, depression and confidence to problems with addiction and phobias; basically, whatever it is you need help with.

I don’t label you but guide you and support you towards breaking free from whatever is preventing you from living the life you want to live.

Brian Goggin

Client Centered Therapy

The most important thing to me is to provide you with the best care possible, and to achieve that aim I will ensure that you feel safe and comfortable during our work together and both guarantee and promise to tailor each session to you as an individual – I take nothing “off the shelf”, by way of generic hypnotic scripts.

The work we do together is about you, your unique set of circumstances and your life experiences. I will draw from a variety of skills and techniques to craft a treatment plan aimed specifically at you and your needs and, in doing so, help you get to where you want to be.

After each session together I will also provide you with complimentary bespoke audio recordings for you to listen to between sessions. These recordings help to consolidate the work we are doing together.  Again, these are not “off the shelf” recordings, but specific to you and what we are working toward.

The sessions are relaxed, and we will work together as a team so that you can achieve positive changes that last.

I struggled with my own issues for years.  I grew up with a Stepfather who, though he did his best, left me lacking in confidence and believing that I was a bit slow, not stupid, but inferior in many ways when it came to understanding the world around me and being able to communicate in an age-appropriate manner.  As a result, I spent much of my childhood in a state of confused inferiority.

This had a massive impact on the decisions I made for myself as a young adult, and especially how I related to others. It meant that I was, in general, a quiet and shy person.  I found it difficult to trust people which had both a damaging and limiting effect on my relationships.  I didn’t believe that I deserved much from life, which prevented me from trying to achieve anything good just for myself. And all this was happening at an unconscious level outside of my awareness.

Discovering Cognitive Hypnotherapy

Having tried many ways to feel better about myself over the years I eventually came across Cognitive Hypnotherapy after dabbling briefly with NLP, and that’s when my life took a totally different and new direction.

The result, well, here I am today to tell you that there is a way forward and that you can be absolutely free of negative, limiting beliefs and destructive behaviour patterns.

Many of us struggle at some point with a lack of confidence, low self-esteem, or addictions, and this is where the practice of Cognitive Hypnotherapy is different.  Cognitive Hypnotherapy recognises that we are all incredibly unique and sessions are aimed at getting to the root of a problem rather than applying yet another “quick fix” to a presenting problem or symptom, therefore the sessions are tailored to the individual using a variety of techniques.

Everyone is capable of change.

It’s not about what happens to us, but how we respond to it.

“Fellow Strugglers”

I trained with a wonderful teacher who liked to use the phrase: “we’re all fellow strugglers” which I agree is a great leveller.

For so many of us the journey we are on is about returning to our real selves, to a self that we know is there, somewhere, but we just can’t connect with … somehow.

And that journey can be so long and difficult when we don’t know how to connect with the “somehow” and “somewhere” aspects of the journey.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy connects you with those wayward aspects of the journey and, in doing so, overcomes the stresses, addictions and negative coping strategies that prevent you from being able to be your authentic self.
